It has been a very long time since I have updated this blog. I haven't forgotten, there just hasn't been anything to say. I am trying to keep this as our adoption blog, so I don't post much else about life on here. Things are in the same place as they have been for awhile, waiting, waiting, waiting. We have seen a few referrals and court successes in the recent days. We are still a few months away from a referral. I keep trying to guess as to when it will be, but there is just no way of knowing. We have been waiting since the January and I would be very surprised if we had a referral before August or September- even that may be optimistic! The waiting has not been as hard as I anticipated. I think with the loss of Jason's job and the other things we have had going on, I have just been to preoccupied to think a lot about it. We've started talking about names, but without knowing the sex of the child, or their Ethiopian name (which we would like to somehow include in their name), we haven't had a whole lot of luck.

Just a note to let you all know that I am still blogging! Just not a lot going on. I try to keep this blog to adoption related news, so right now there is not much to report. Things have been slow in general on the Bethany Boards. Hoping for some referral and court date action this coming week.

I haven't updated in awhile- mainly because there isn't much to update. referrals where at one time taking between 4-6 months. They now seem to be taking longer. Our guess (which means nothing) is that we will wait 8-10 months for our referral. It is hard to believe it was over 1 year ago we started the process. As naive as we were we figured we'd be done by now! I am so thankful to my Bethany friends who have been so helpful with the process as well with other things in life. Their support has been overwhelming (in a good way!).

Thank you to our friends and families for all your prayers and support during this challenging time. Life is still up in the air, but we have faith that it will all fall into place soon. The Lord has always been faithful in caring and providing for us and we know that He will continue to do so. After talking to our adoption worker, it does not appear that our current situation will interfere with the adoption as long as it is resolved and we have proof of income and insurance by the time of our referral.

The Johnson family wishes all of our family and friends a very happy and blessed new year.  

The holidays were fun and busy at our house, and we are all anxious to finally get back to a "normal" life. Christmas break ends tomorrow, and all of our activities start once again with full force. The busyness will (in theory) help with the waiting, but "the baby" is always on our minds and in our hearts. Even the kids talk about him/her quite frequently now. Once we know if it is a boy or a girl we can start redoing bedrooms and move forward with preparations, but for now we just wait. (Is patience really a virtue???)
